Understanding Program Fit
A Transition Program for Young Adults Who Need More Time and Structure to Build Independence
OPTIONS is designed for young adults who have completed high school and can benefit from structured practice across academics, employment, communication, and independent living. The goal is to help each student build a personal and sustainable level of independence.
Fit Is More Important Than a Label
For Young Adults Who Are Capable of Growth but Not Yet Consistently Independent
Families often arrive at OPTIONS because the next step after high school has not matched the student’s actual readiness. The challenge may show up in college, employment, organization, communication, daily routines, or several areas at once.
- Needs structure to manage adult expectations consistently
- Benefits from direct instruction, coaching, and repeated real-world practice
- Is building readiness for college, employment, or both
- Needs stronger executive functioning, communication, or self-advocacy systems
- Needs practice managing apartment and community responsibilities

Progressive Independence
Standard → Modified → Extension
Students move forward based on demonstrated readiness — not time alone. Expectations increase as direct support gradually decreases.

High Support · High Structure
Standard Phase
Students establish routines, learn how to use support effectively, and build foundational academic, vocational, communication, and daily living skills.

Shared Responsibility · Guided Independence
Modified Phase
Students take greater ownership of schedules, choices, follow-through, and responsibilities while continuing to receive coaching and oversight.

Independent Living · Supported Launch
Extension Phase
Students prepare to transition beyond OPTIONS by managing college, employment, wellness, and independent living with substantially reduced direct support.
