Scott Donovan, B.S's Bio:

Scott Donovan has served as Director of OPTIONS Transitions to Independence since 2019, bringing more than 18 years of experience within a structured post-secondary transition program for students with learning disabilities. His long-standing involvement across multiple roles gives him a comprehensive understanding of how academic, vocational, and independent living systems must integrate to produce measurable outcomes in independence.

Scott began his career at OPTIONS as a Life Skills Aide, Academic Coach, and Independent Living Coach, gaining direct, hands-on experience in the day-to-day development of student independence. During this time, he designed and implemented experiential programming such as the Balancing Relationships Workshop and Culinary Diversity Night—initiatives that help students build social awareness, communication skills, and confidence in real-world settings.

As Director, Scott leads the implementation of OPTIONS’ integrated, three-phase transition model, ensuring that each student receives individualized support aligned with their current level of independence. He oversees a collaborative team of academic, vocational, and residential professionals who work together to help students progress from structured support to self-directed adult living.

Scott holds a Bachelor of Science in Recreation and Leisure Service Management from Southern Illinois University Carbondale and is certified as an Outdoor Educator through the Wilderness Education Association. His leadership reflects a commitment to creating a college-connected transition program where students build the skills, confidence, and accountability required for long-term independence.
