Jessica Jenkins has been a member of the OPTIONS team since 2021, supporting young adults as they transition from high school into independent adulthood. As an Independent Living Coach within a structured post-secondary transition program for students with learning disabilities, she plays a direct role in helping students build the skills required for long-term independence.
Working within the apartment-based residential model, Jessica helps students develop essential daily living skills such as cooking, household management, organization, and personal responsibility. Support is structured and intentionally reduced over time, allowing students to build independence through consistent practice and real-world application.
Jessica also supports students in community-based activities, where they practice decision-making, social communication, and self-management in authentic environments. These experiences reinforce independence beyond the classroom and help students gain confidence navigating everyday adult responsibilities.
By working closely with students and maintaining clear expectations, Jessica helps ensure progress is consistent, measurable, and aligned with each student’s individual goals. Her work reflects the OPTIONS model—where independent living, academics, and vocational development are fully integrated to support lasting independence.
