B.S. | Program Coordination
Rod Ramirez serves as the Coordinator of the Extension Phase Program at OPTIONS, supporting young adults as they transition into the most independent stage of a structured post-secondary transition program for students with learning disabilities. In this leadership role, Rod works with students who are preparing for life beyond the program, where expectations shift toward increased autonomy, responsibility, and real-world accountability.
Within the Extension Phase, Rod provides targeted guidance in advanced independent living skills, including time management, financial responsibility, decision-making, and self-direction. This phase represents a critical step in the OPTIONS model, where support is intentionally reduced and students demonstrate their ability to manage daily life with greater independence.
Rod also supports students as they engage in college coursework, internships, and employment experiences, helping them apply the skills they have developed across academic, vocational, and residential settings. His work ensures that progress made in earlier phases translates into consistent performance in real-world environments.
By maintaining clear expectations and individualized support, Rod helps students solidify the habits and skills required for long-term success after OPTIONS. His role reflects the program’s integrated, phase-based approach—guiding students toward their highest level of independence with structure, accountability, and measurable outcomes.
Rod works with students in the Extension Phase to develop advanced independent living skills such as time management, decision-making, and personal responsibility. He helps students navigate increased independence while maintaining accountability and structure.
He also supports students as they balance college, work, and daily responsibilities, ensuring they can apply their skills consistently in real-world environments and prepare for life beyond OPTIONS.
Bachelor of Science (B.S.)
Independence is built when students take ownership of their daily lives and apply what they’ve learned in real-world situations.
